Audiolab M-DAC

The M-DAC, an eagerly awaited, new standalone D/A converter finally makes its debut as a replacement for the award-winning 8000DAC introduced in 1992.
The M-DAC is housed in a smart styling aluminium case with solid build and ample connectivity. Alongside the USB input with Asynchronous data processing, there are two each of coaxial and optical digital inputs, and one each of coaxial and optical digital outputs. Audio signal is provided via RCA single-ended and XLR balanced audio outputs.
A wand like remote control handset allows you to switch inputs, select from preset digital filters and alter the display. The large clear screen allows you to see what input is being used and the sample rate being received. High-res 24-bit/192kHz music files can be played on the M-DAC via the coaxial input, while optical and USB inputs support 24-bit/96kHz data.

Asynchronous USB supporting 24-bit/96kHz with remote control of PC / MAC Media Player via HID support
• High current, high linearity RCA single-ended & XLR true balanced with fully discrete J-FET CROSS* Class A output stages and built-in headphone amplifier
• Selectable DAC mode or Digital Pre-amplifier mode, allowing direct connection to power amplifiers and active speakers in digital only systems
• 2.7” high contrast OLED display
• "Actual"or"Nominal"Sampling Frequency display – displays the TRUE input sampling frequency with 1Hz resolution
• Digital level meters in dB with peak hold
• CD / DVD SPDIF subcode embedded Track and Time Display
• Advanced de-jittered optical and coaxial SPDIF output, with USB to SPDIF output.
• Full remote control + external remote / BUS I/O loop
• 26 internal regulated supply rails with 10 ultra low noise, low impedance discrete regulators
• 7 user selectable digital filters – fully software upgradeable via the USB port
• Organic ultra low ESR capacitors, high tolerance polypropylene film / foil capacitors, ultra stable very low VCR 0.1% MELF SMD resistors, 4 layer PCB
• External upgradeable power supply interface for a future upgrade path

Dali Menuet

The DALI MENUET - a small, yet powerful speaker that reveals great musicality that will set new standards for sound and performance from a compact speaker.

Conceptually,  MENUET is a compact bass reflex loudspeaker measuring only 25 x 15 x 23 cm/9.8 x 5.9 x 9.0”. Even though it is only based on a 4.5” woofer and a 28 mm/1.1” soft dome it more than makes the grade. Listen to these brilliant tiny loudspeakers and you will hear plenty of clean, undistorted bass, open and dynamic midrange and detailed/crisp highs.

The 4.5” woofer is airflow optimized to achieve the best possible coupling between the wood fiber cone and the real wood veneer cabinet. Even the woofer cut-out in the cabinet is made larger than normal to optimise openness and dynamic response. The oversized 28 mm/1.1” soft dome tweeter is able to start and stop with great speed and precision due to the very low mass of the dome assembly and a powerful motor system (the dome is approximately 30% lighter than comparable standard domes and the magnet in the motor system is made of the strongest neodymium material available). The DALI designed drivers, sturdy binding posts and high quality crossover is the key to achieving extraordinary performance from such a compact loudspeaker.

For optimum performance, MENUET should be positioned in a bookshelf or mounted on the wall using an optional wall bracket. With two threaded inserts on the rear of the cabinet, it is prepared for easy installation of the wall bracket without any hassle. The bracket is designed to ensure optimal clearance between the wall and the bass reflex port.

The neat and clean design - makes it very easy to place the tiny DALI MENUET anywhere around the house.

HFC Recommended
"There's near faultless extension at frequency extremes. Bass is beautifully extended but never in any danger of exaggeration or overhang, while treble is sweet and open", "That this DAC clerly offers some of the most detailed - and at the same time most musically bewitching - sounds I've heard from any digital source. It as, as it should be, largely immune to the differences between sources and get the best from CD, streamed audio and local computer playback with the greatest of confidence. It simple revels in the kind of tricky multi-layered sound that can so often trip up modern audio electronics". "With excellent sonics across a wide range of sources, fine build, superlative ease of use and a vast feature count, it's very difficult not to rave about the new Audiolab M-DAC. It's a landmark product, just like John Westlakes's original DacMagic was all those years ago. If you're looking for a digital to analogue convertor at or anywhere near this price, you surely must hear this".

Dali Menuet

"Adept at more-or-less anythingThey’re achingly articulate through the midrange, giving character and expression to instruments and voices alike, and are just as urgent or as soothing as is required. Timing, detail levels and frequency-range integration all impress, but it’s their sheer musicality that marks these out as five-star performers."
July 2011

"The thing that jumps out immediately is their incredibly lucid detail. Whether they’re teasing out the high frequency hustle and bustle of a movie scene or playing a delicate jazz tune, the Menuet’s don’t miss a thing. Dali’s Mentor Menuet is proof that good things come in small packages. These compact speakers do a fine job with anything you throw at them, from boisterous movie tracks to gentle jazz tunes, revealing layers of detail and conveying voices with smoothness and/or urgency"
