1080P

1080p represents the ‘true HD’ format found on most TV’s. The number 1080 represents a vertical resolution of 1,080 lines and normally assumes a widescreen format ratio of 16:9 denoting a horizontal resolution of 1920 pixels giving a total pixel count of 2,073,600. The P stands for progressively scanned in which the all the lines of each frame are drawn in sequence. You can also see 1080i where the I represent interlaced video where the odds and even lines are drawn separately, although this doesn’t give the same picture quality that 1080p gives.
